Media Alert: Don’t miss the show!

August 28th, 2008 by Russ Verney

Thanks to your support for Bob Barr, his campaign for the Presidency is on solid footing and next week we shift into high gear.  Over the past few days we have received record media coverage.  In fact, today Glenn Beck has Bob on his CNN Headline News broadcast for an hour long special. (7:00 PM, 9:00 PM and 12:00AM all EDT)  I encourage you to watch it and if you would be so kind as to forward this reminder to family, friends or others who would be interested, I would appreciate it.

Of course, Bob’s combined coverage this week and next - during the Democrat and Republican Conventions - will total but a few hours compared to well more than 100 for the Obama and McCain campaigns.

As you consider that figure, ask yourself what in the way of real issues have the Democrats addressed?   And what will the Republicans have to say?

For certain, there is nothing new and the majority of the rhetoric is shrill complaints and attacks on their opponents.  It is clear that there will be nothing new, that’s what the powerful special interests want.

To the extent that they talk about specific government programs, they are always about expanding programs, departments, agencies and offices.  That means spending more money, raising taxes, and running up the national debt.

Only Bob Barr has a plan to shut down wasteful government programs, balance the federal budget, reduce the national debt and cut taxes.  Only Bob Barr has a commitment to a foreign policy that emphasizes our national defense interests exclusively.  Only Bob Barr will fix our economy, bring energy independence and put the American people’s interest first.

That’s why he is doing so well in public opinion surveys and gaining ground.

I believe that if the Barr campaign can begin a national radio and TV advertising campaign to build awareness of Bob’s stands on issues, he could double or even triple his standings in the polls.  Once that is accomplished, he will be included in every televised debate and every American will recognize that they have a real choice for change.

Bob needs your help now to launch this ad campaign.  Your gift of $25, $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000 or even more will equip us with the resources to elevate this campaign to the next level.

I thank you for your consideration and support.

The Barr campaign needs to set up small fundraising goals, similar to what the Nader campaign does. Example- $50,000 in one week, and then state what the money will go to. This will increase the cash flow.

  2. georgia jawjacker Says:

Watching show now…Bob is right on target! Thanks Beck!

  3. Amber Arnett Says:

If you missed Bob Barr on the Glenn Beck show just now, be sure to watch it at 9. Hearing Mr. Barr and Mr. Beck discuss real issues in a meaningful manner is such a breath of fresh air. Never before have I been able to so wholeheartedly support a presidential candidate. Excuse me while I go install my Barr ‘08 yard sign.

  4. laurie Says:

Clay: I agree that approach to fundraising can be very effective.

Also, it’s good to end the month with a good fundraising total. All the campaigns are asking for donations right now to show they are are able to raise money. This is a great opportunity for us to boost our funds! Please donate what you can and find another person each day to support Bob and make a contribution!

    Remember: money brings in money.

And money is needed every day to get Bob’s message out!

  5. Stephen Says:

Russ, get Barr in Minnesota please! An agressive week spent there will produce 10 times what an hour on Glenn Beck will bring on the night of Obama’s coronation.

    “Bob Barr on: Monetary Policy”
“The Federal Reserve is a secretive and unaccountable organization which dominates monetary policy, regulates financial institutions, and increasingly intervenes in economic markets. Congress must insist on accountability and transparency in the Federal Reserve’s operation, while reconsidering the Fed’s almost total control over the money supply. We should begin a debate over more far-reaching policy changes, including eliminating the federal government’s control over the money supply, thereby leaving monetary policy under the control of the market rather than of politics.”

Fundamental Nature Of Fed Needs To Be Understood In Most Concrete Terms: It’s Crass COUNTERFEIT Scam/Fraud/Operation
    (Apollonian, 28 Aug 08)

    Dear Libertarian comrades:

I went to Bob Barr’s website “issue” section and clicked under the “monetary policy” heading, and I note above is the entire statement given under that heading. I hope this present blog is as good a place as any to make a very urgent note for the campaign both for Libertarians and our good candidate Bob Barr, who seems an excellent man and candidate.

There’s (at least) one HUGE error in above text, and it regards “the federal government’s control over the money supply….” Comrades, this entire passage is horribly mistaken and mis-conceived, for the gov. has ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL WHATSOEVER over the Fed or its policy.

For it’s imperative to be understood the Fed is a totally PRIVATE corporation; the Federal gov. has no say whatsoever, and indeed, it’s rather the Fed bankers who control the Fed gov. and Congress, telling Congress what it must do.

Observe the Fed COUNTERFEITERS thus provide, directly and indirectly, the funding and “contributions” for ALL candidates’ and parties’ political campaigns; all corporations and officers thereof are beholden to these “bankers”–including especially the electronic voting corporate providers who fix and rig the elections–which “bankers,” directly and indirectly, pay and bribe the judges, politicians, bureaucrats, and police, etc.

It’s surely best to cut through all the verbiage and terminology and say most explicitly exactly what the Fed really is: IT’S A COUNTERFEIT operation/scam/mechanism, nothing more nor less, and it’s only necessary to ck references; best ref. being G. Edward Griffin (I submit) at RealityZone.com. Griffin is most excellent scholar and author of “The Creature From Jekyll Island.” Griffin was also in (late) Aaron Russo’s movie, along w. Ron Paul, “From Freedom to Fascism.”

Another excellent group of people to be consulted on this Fed issue would be the good folks at TheNewAmerican.com, also JBS.org.

And of course there’s good old Ron Paul himself (presently at CampaignForLiberty.com).

It can’t be too greatly emphasized exactly the situation which obtains even as we speak: we’re victims and subjects of a literally CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY continuing to be perpetrated by these Fed scam-artists and counterfeiters–this is literally the very fact of the matter.

I think it’s representative of the gross failure of Ron Paul’s campaign that the Libertarians themselves have failed to heed the fundamental message of Ron Paul about the basic nature of the Federal Reserve scam–this due to Paul’s unfortunate habit of keeping things so intellectual and abstract, eschewing CONCRETE language which would make things FAR BETTER understood for the working-class people.

Again: The Fed Is simply A COUNTERFEIT operation, nothing more nor less–even though, yes, lots of big-words and jargon are used to disguise simple facts of criminal enterprise, literally.

So I hope all the Libertarian fans and adherents and party-members will pardon me for using this place and opportunity to raise the alarm for ur info on this extremely important issue, indeed, an issue which couldn’t be more important. For by means of the Fed COUNTERFEIT conspiracy, we literally have the USA under the firm grasp and control of gross criminals; I don’t think any more really needs be said.

CONCLUSION: Thank the good Lord for blogging I can make this note here for folks. I think Bob Barr’s a great guy, truly, and if he only gets this clue regarding the Fed scam he could do a lot of people a lot of good for basic info and surely his own and the Libertarians’ general campaigns. Honest elections and death to the Fed. Apollonian

  7. Patrick Says:

I watched Bob Barr on Glenn Beck tonight after being disheartened and disgusted by the DNC and the media circus that is the Obama campaign…I have never been more excited about a presidential candidate than I am now about Bob Barr. I knew his name, and who he was, but felt so disaffected by the whole political scene that I didn’t look closely at Bob Barr…
    I’m stoked now!

  8. Vance Says:

The reason I’m voting for you is simply “to bring balance back to the government”.

  9. Tom Bryant Says:

Wow…someone sure is uninformed about the Federal Reserve. It amazes me how folks will eat up the misinformation in Griffin’s book and eschew actual research.

If the Fed was truly a private organization, Libertarians would have no problem with it. The problem is that it is not a private corporation - but rather a hybrid organization created by, and ultimately controlled by, the federal government. Eliminating the Fed would revert the power over money back to Congress - an even worse situation that what we have now with the Fed.

The Fed is certainly not perfect, and could use some major overhauls But it shouldn’t go in the direction of more government control.

  10. TJ Says:

I notice the donations are picking up. He raised 75K in a couple days.

    Needs to keep it up.

  11. laurie Says:

TJ: I noticed the increase in donations. I think the increase in media exposure, the grassroots work of all Bob’s supporters every day and the increasing disillusionment of the American voters are coming together at just the right time..

McCain’s pick as VP has caught many Republicans by surprise and rather than reassuring them, it appears to have been the last straw - not because Gov. Palin is a woman ( that may have been the only positive part of this), but because she represents the same path that hasn’t worked - and because she’s under investigation in Alaska by her own Party for using the power of her office for personal matters.

I’ve noticed going around the various blogs this afternoon a number of people referencing Bob and sending folks to this website.

We are beginning to develop quite a list of groups who might find what they are looking for in our Party. We need to be working hard to show those folks what a difference this party will make for their lives.

    Debate update:

Another poster put the phone number for the Commission on Presidential Debates, just called it and the lady directed me to the web site. I asked her about how to get Bob on the debate stage and she stated that the best way to do so would be to do exactly what I’m doing… calling the office. Supposedly, she was recording the conversation and would ‘forward it’ to her superiors. That may or may not be true, but it sure cant hurt to call. The line was busy the first couple of times that I called, but on the 3rd try, I got through to an actual person, not an automated system.

I suggest we flood that phone number with as many callers as we can muster. Even if there is no ‘recorded message’ to send to superiors…. the volume of calls for Bob should speak for itself.

    The number is (202) 872-1020
