Why is Bob Barr running for President?

July 24th, 2008 by Jeri Barr

My Husband is Bob Barr, and his campaign sent me a video they produced to help people better understand why Bob is running for President. It contains a powerful, moving message that I know if every American is able to see it, Bob would win their hearts and minds.

In a moment, I’m going to share with you a link so that you may be one of the first to see the video.

But first, I want you to know how much we appreciate your interest in and support for Bob’s campaign. In the rush of it all, we may not say it often enough, so again THANK YOU.

On a personal note I also want to share that Bob’s campaign for the Presidency isn’t just about the here and now. Our four children and six grandchildren are important to us and he’s working so hard to leave them an The Time for LibertyAmerica that is better than the one we inherited.

Bob and I remember an era not all that long ago when Americans pulled together to do what needed to be done in their communities. They didn’t need massive government programs, federal funds or tax incentives.

We just saw a need and took care of it ourselves. That’s not the way it seems to be any more. Bob’s video, that I hope you’ll take time to view by clicking here, is a walk down memory lane for those of us who remember what it was like in the past. And, it should serve as inspiration for what it can once again be.

Again, thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

P.S. - As I mentioned earlier in this message, I believe that if every American could watch this video, Bob would win their hearts, minds AND votes. Perhaps you could take a moment and forward this message and link to everyone you know so that they can fully understand what is as stake in this November’s election. And, if you would consider making a contribution to the campaign to help further get out our message, it would be equally appreciated.

Be sure to go to Diig 4 Barr at this website and digg The Time for Liberty video. It already has 360 diggs/let’s push it up to the top! With all the supporters and donors who come here ,there could be be thousands ‘digging’ this video!

And while there, please digg other Barr news stories.

The more interest displayed in Barr’s candidacy, the more the media will cover him.

Here is an idea for a YouTube series that could capture a lot of additional attention:

    1. Take two actors, each with their particular McBama mask, representing these candidates at a mock debate.
    2. Include Bob Barr.
    3. Film at least thirty-minutes to an hour of a presidential debate between Bob and the others.
    4. Release One Three-minute question a day, for ten to twenty days.
    5. Do it again, if you want.

I guess a guy could put some comedy in there, or maybe the best comedy would be someone who sounds exactly like McCain/Obama answering the questions exactly the way those candidates would.

I don’t know, maybe it’s wacky enough to work. I just wanted to bring this idea to your attention.

If the quality that was used on this video was used for some mock debates, the resulting support could be phenomenal! That could also put us closer to being involved in the actual debates.

CNN is interviewing McCain tomorrow and accepting video questions from viewers. I posted a question asking him if he will debate Bob Barr. Please go push up the rating of the video to help it make it onto the air.

    Doug,

Unfortunately, in order for your idea to work, McCain and Obama would actually have to have a consistent stand on the issues. I would very much like there to be some kind of a video or pamphlet that compares the candidates side by side based on their positions on a whole range of issues to really show just how similar McCain and Obama are, and how Barr is truly offering an altering option that you will not get from McBama.

Sign petition asking Google to include Barr, Nader and McKinney in their debate.

Why am I voting for Bob Barr?

Bob Barr is campaigning to actually uphold the constitution.

Classic Liberals (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_liberalism) like myself are going to vote for Bob Barr and the Hillary supporters are mad as hell at Obama. The libertarian party can be positioned to be the majority party in a few years if things fall just right or the Republican party will go back to the ways of Reagan. The only times the American people have revolted is when the government has ignored the constitution and that is happening right now. We are ripe for REVOLUTION and Ron Paul proved that.

I have a suggestion. Everyone should be posting to the political ticker blog at CNN. I’ve been posting alot about Barr there. The dialog there is mostly haters of Obama/McCain.

The interesting idea that came to mind was that Barr could have his own “Operation Chaos” (kudos to Rush Limbaugh for the idea). So many people are saying that they are Hillary supporters but would never vote Obama and would rather vote McCain. On the other hand, Republicans are really upset that McCain is so close to Obama on so many issues.

What if we all had a concerted effort to show that this is the year a true message could be sent? that a Hillary supporter voting for McCain does not really mean they support him, they just want a protest vote. Same for republicans. But we need to explain that crossover votes are just that…they are not protest, and cannot be counted.

So, what if we really make sure that people understand that their vote does, and can, count. That a vote for Barr is for true change. It’s message won’t be lost. I think it really irks dems that if you say a vote for McCain really means you’re republican…because that’s how the vote is counted. And to repubs, a vote for Obama might as well mean that you are a democrat–because that’s how the votes are counted.

I guess I’ve become more and more passionate about Barr for President because I hear this dialog on blogs like CNN. People don’t know what to do. They don’t know there is a real choice. Barr’s stand on the issues satisfies most of these disgruntled citizens. They just don’t know there is another more meaningful way to vote.

When you’ve been presented with only two choices in life: apple pie, or cherry pie and you argue all day about that, someone comes up with pecan pie and the world is a better place for it.

  16. Andy H Says:

    to Doug Burlison,

That’s a great idea to film some mock debates!

The comedy could be injected by having the McCain / Obama stand-ins constantly swap their masks between each other as they answer questions (always historically accurate of course). Barr could be standing in the middle and comment that he’s not sure where each candidate is standing–on his left or right, because they keep changing their masks—now, was that Obama on the left or right, or was it McCain?

THAT would be a great commentary on the two parties.
