Moving into July!
July 2nd, 2008 by Shane CoryOver the past week we made a good deal of progress in moving our campaign forward. Here’s a quick update that I wanted to get out to you as we move into July and what I hope will be a great month for Barr/Root 2008!
Our campaign video posted on YouTube has been watched over 46,000 times! On top of that, we were able to motivate online activists for small victories on Digg and other social sites.
Building on that online success is Netroots Coordinator Andrew Clouse, who has worked closely with Meetup Coordinators and activists around the country to build Meetup groups for Bob Barr. Late last week our 100th Bob Barr Meetup was started and we now have over 3,200 members!
While our Internet progress is great, we need to make gains in other areas as well - and we have!
This past Sunday, Bob appeared on “Fox News Sunday” to discuss his campaign and platform. This came on the heels of Saturday’s article on the front page of the New York Times!
Also, this coming Sunday Bob will appear on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos.”
We’re going to continue to fight for every media appearance that we can get in order to promote our presidential ticket just as we’re fighting to get Bob Barr and Wayne Root on the ballot in all 50 states.
The Libertarian Party through its chairman, William Redpath, and staff members Robert Kraus and Sean Haugh continue to do a great job of making sure that we achieve ballot access in at least 48 states.
However, West Virginia, Oklahoma and the District of Columbia are states that the campaign is going to have to address on its own. Today, I made arrangements for petitioning to begin in West Virginia, which may cost us up to $50,000.
That’s one of the reasons why we set a goal of raising $88,000 by July 4th, and as I type this, we are just under $40,000 away from making this goal. If you can, please donate today. Any contribution that you can make is greatly appreciated whether it’s $10, $25 or $100. We need every dollar that can be donated.

Thanks for reporting on the progress! It really helps us grassroots supporters feel a part of this campaign.
It sounds as if a substantial amount of progress has been made in such a very short period of time - really something to build on! We are so fortunate to have the people we do working for Bob and this campaign.

We need a meet up in the Milwaukee/Kenosha area for Barr and I would love to assist in organizing one if possible~! God Bless America!
